Text Box: At the 2006 PMSA State Conference in State College, the Sunday  evening banquet, Keynote Speaker is Dr. Sharon Faber.
	
During her career in education, Sharon Faber has had a wide variety of experience at many levels.  She is a lifelong educator and president of her own consulting firm in Georgia.  Her professional background includes front-line experience as a teacher, a building administrator, a central office administrator, and a university professor.  Now as a Site Manager for the Modern Red Schoolhouse Institute, she is known for her wonderful sense of humor, the practicality of her presentations, and the creativity of her materials.
	
Dr. Faber's latest publications, How to Teach Reading When You're Not a Reading Teacher and Middle School:  Living Life in the Fast Lane, have helped countless teachers understand, instruct, and inspire today's middle school students.  George Bernard Shaw said, "Those who can, do; those who can't, teach."  He was so wrong, and Dr. Faber helps middle school educators see how critical they are to pre-adolescents in today's world!
	
Dr. Faber has consulted with more than 150 school districts across the United States and Canada, and she has presented and keynoted at numerous local, state, and national conferences.  She is well known for workshops which are fast moving, enjoyable, and centered around a wealth of teaching ideas and proven techniques which can be implemented immediately.  She is a popular speaker who is noted for her sense of humor, high energy level, and practical information.







The Keynote Speaker at the Monday Luncheon will be Mary Margaret Kerr, Ed.D.

Mary Margaret Kerr received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Duke University and her doctorate from The American University in Washington, D.C.  Trained in special education and developmental psychology, Dr. Kerr has devoted her career to working with troubled children and adolescents and to teaching those who help them.  The author of six textbooks and many articles, she has taught in special education and alternative education classrooms and continues to consult with school districts across the country.  A former faculty member at Vanderbilt University Dr. Kerr joined the faculty of the School of Medicine and the School of Education at the University of Pittsburgh in 1980.
	
In 1989, Dr. Kerr joined the Pittsburgh City Schools as Director of Pupil Services, where she administered services such as guidance, counseling, social work, drug-free schools, alternative education, health services, school security, and discipline.  In 1994, she returned to her faculty position at the University of Pittsburgh, to administer the school serving patients at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic
