Reports from the PMSA Regions |

|
The Central Region held its second meeting of the 2005-06 school year at Mount Nittany Middle School in the State College Area School District on Thursday, October 27, 2005. Members discussed plans to attend the NMSA Conference in Philadelphia from November 3-5, 2005. Six members from the Central Region Board were able to attend this exciting and informative event. The members attended sessions and action labs, worked at the Pennsylvania Hospitality Booth, served as conference facilitators and enjoyed the city of Philadelphia! The next meeting is scheduled for January 27, 2006. We will begin planning our student award program and discuss a possible summer professional development opportunity for the area. Anyone interested in becoming involved with PMSA in the Central Region is urged to contact Marybeth Irvin, president, at 717-248-0179 or mdi34@mcsdk12.org.

Over 2, 000 educators from Pennsylvania were in attendance at the November conference and they benefited from the numerous sessions, exhibits, and keynote speakers that the conference offered. We wish to extend a special thank you to all of the PMSA members who helped make the NMSA conference a success. A special congratulations and thank you to the PMSA Eastern Region Board Members, whose tireless efforts working with NMSA in preparation of the conference must be celebrated: Gail Heinemeyer, Ridley Middle School; Charles Cognato, G.A. well as ways to increase membership. We also discussed the latest updates to the PMSA website. We plan to continue to provide professional development opportunities to our members. A parent night, a principal’s breakfast, and an Eastern Region Conference are all events being discussed and planned for the year 2006. We are most looking forward to the PMSA State Conference on March 19-21st, 2006 at the Penn Stater in State College.
We are continuing to look for interested members from any of the proposed regions in the East who may be willing to get more involved in PMSA. It is important for us to continue to pursue any members who currently work in the East; IU’s 14, 20, 21 & 29, the Northeast; IU’s 16, 17, 18, & 19, the South Central; IU’s 12, 13, & 15, and the Southeast; IU’s 22, 23, 24, 25, & 26. If you have an interest in helping us to develop those proposed regions, please contact Jessica Singleton, President, at j_singleton@easdpa.org. If you have any ideas of how we can better serve our current members, as well as how we can increase membership, please let us know. Our next meeting will be held at the Milton Hershey School on Thursday, January 12th, 2006. All are welcome to attend this meeting to learn more about us.
