




PMSA AwardsBelow is a listing and brief description of the annual awards presented by PMSA.
The Joan Spicher student award is designed to honor outstanding young adolescents who are in the “middle,” and who generally do not receive recognition. We are proud of them and their efforts as they work conscientiously on a day-to-day basis. To be eligible, the students should demonstrate leadership abilities, good citizenship, and should have made positive contributions to their school and community. Nominations are due on or before January 14.
Outstanding Middle Level Student Teachers PMSA wants to recognize teaching candidates who have student taught in a middle level school and demonstrated both a commitment to middle level teaching as well as an awareness of young adolescent development. Any student teacher that has completed his/her student teaching in either the fall or preceding spring term is eligible for this award. All award winners will receive a free PMSA State Conference registration, excluding meals, as well as a free PMSA Individual Membership for one year. All nominations are due on or before February 17.
Promising Practitioners Award This award is offered by PMSA to honor teachers beginning their teaching career who have one to three years of teaching experience. The nominator must come from the same school as the nominee. Each school can nominate up to three teachers for this award. All nominees will be recognized and receive a certificate. All nominations are due on or before February 24.
Outstanding Administrator Award PMSA seeks to honor administrators who value, understand and support effective middle level education that promotes powerful learning for young adolescents. Nomination information can be found on the PMSA website. All nominations are due on or before January 6.
Ann Moniot Outstanding Middle Level Teacher PMSA seeks to honor a middle level teacher(s) who possesses the qualities of an outstanding teacher as defined on the PMSA website. All nominees should either be an individual PMSA member or teach in a school that is an Institutional member school. All nominations are due on or before December 16.
Donald Eichhorn Outstanding Middle Level School PMSA seeks to honor one outstanding middle level school from each of the seven proposed regions of PMSA. The criterion for this award is based upon the 14 elements found in the NMSA document, This We Believe. All nominated schools must be a member of PMSA by November 15. All nominations are due to their respective region on or before December 2. |
