The Pennsylvania Middle School Association (PMSA) was first organized in 1975 under the name, Western Pennsylvania League of Middle Schools.  This organization’s purpose was to improve education for student of middle school age (10-14 years).  In 1977, the Western Pennsylvania League of Middle Schools became an affiliate of the National Middle School Association.  From its inception, through the incorporation in 2003, PMSA has strived to promote learning strategies and techniques for all middle level students.
