Message from the Executive Director:

 

I am excited and energized to serve the middle level learning community of Pennsylvania.  It is a privilege to work for a group who is highly committed to excellence in the learning process, passionate about their profession and the caring of the children placed in their care.  Our goal is help our adolescents “find their way to their future.”

 

I have high aspirations for what PMSA can do to make middle level education in the state the best nation wide.  At the heart and soul of PMSA is the core belief that what we do is in the best interest of children and their learning.  To accomplish this, it is incumbent on PMSA to offer valuable professional development opportunities for the middle level educators in our state.  Visiting our web site you will see that throughout this year we are offering high quality Professional Development Institutes regionally and state wide.  In addition to providing PDIs, PMSA is making attempts to collaborate with other professional organizations in the state to increase our involvement in shaping decisions that impact you in the classroom.  PMSA is balancing our professional duties by giving to its members information and opportunities that will benefit you and your personal wellbeing through partnerships with corporations.

 

We find ourselves in roaring rapids of data overload.  The high accountability of student achievement is clearly placed on our shoulders.  PMSA wants to help bring you to the cool, calm, collected waters of constructive and valuable information that will create change in the learning progress of each student and we will do this through our newly designed PDI.  As we set out on the course of this data driven rapids, we must never forget that behind each benchmark score is a child; a child who has emotional, social and intellectual needs.  We must continue to season our instructional practices with patience of the adolescent, understanding of developmental appropriate practices, and genuine love for the individual child behind the test score.

 

As always, collaboration and a team approach remains at the focus of PMSA actions and initiatives.  Join us this year on our cruise down the rapids and together we will complete the journey.
